In February 2015, the Eagles Lodge in South Burlington had a Calcutta night and raised $2100 for War Veterans Assistance Group, Inc..
Blue Star Mothers of Vermont furnishes service dogs for veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) free of charge. We adopt suitable shelter dogs, provide training for the dogs by carefully chosen inmates at three Department Of Corrections (DOC) facilities (2 dogs at each) here in Vermont. The BSM’s of VT work with the VA for recommendation of veterans who are most in need for these furever four legged friends. Once placed to the veteran in need, we help provide veterinary service assistance, food, other pet needs and follow up visits to assist the veteran with any issues they may have with these dogs. We also offer pet fostering for veterans who need pet care for any reasons, ie; deployment, hospital stays, medical issues, et cetera. There are various organizations including WVAG that work hand and hand with us to help assist veterans with their pet needs. This is a pilot program and the first of it’s kind in Vermont, WVAG is proud to be a part of it!
Many thanks to everyone who came out on Friday May 16th and helped raise funds for the WVAG in our 1st of two Golf events this year. A special thanks for all the great support we received from Enosburg Falls Country Club and for the excellent catering too. Without all of you, none of our wonderful work would be complete or such a great success.
